Visit to Liverpool Uni and City College Liverpool – 22nd January 2016

Members there are facing a restructure being sneaked in without a full or transparent consultation. A ‘Preventing the Prevent Agenda’ event is being organised and the meeting voted unanimously to Stop The War in Syria and Welcome Refugees.

Good to see an organised union branch opposing injustice both locally and globally.

Sounds familiar…

We also discussed the ongoing chaos of unpaid bills for vital services, fear of the unknown and looming area reviews, forthcoming joint pay strike by UCU and Unison FE, legal support for members and the need for a lay-member-edited UCU magazine. We need to follow all these issues up as they are common in far too many colleges.

Good luck to the branch on getting a ballot up for industrial action to defend even more FE courses from being cut and yet more teachers from losing their jobs in a sector that is vital to so many people.

Sending good luck and solidarity for your fight against further redundancies.
